Deep winter returns, with about 26 inches of fresh snow. One of the top five snowstorms of the past 25 years. Put away the tractor and grab the skis!
We have some Sunrise Farmer birthdays this week. Happy Transplant Day Trev and Coco!
I’d say we hate to be sappy in our posts but that simply would not be true! Tap dancing into Spring!
Fevered Friday! We are thankful we got so much outdoor work done in the beautiful sunshine before the snow hit!
We have been busy composting hoop houses, tons of greenhouse seeding. Spring is Springing!
Yesterday we got to have breakfast with a bunch of really cool farmers and the amazing Willing Hands Team at the Listen Dining Hall. A fun way to get together and kick off a new season! Thank you Willing Hands for all that you do! We feel honored to
We don’t know how other farmers get pumped for the upcoming season but here at Sunrise Farm we have feats of strength competitions. How strong is your grip?!?!
Despite the calendar, sugaring is underway. We made some gorgeous and tasty syrup over the weekend - there’s nothing better than the first draw. The spidery-looking tubes in the woods are a sap ladder, new this year, that helps move sap through
Fall is here and we have been cruising around the farm planting garlic, covering it in straw to hibernate, digging and installing irrigation for our new greenhouse and composting and closing out fields in anticipation of the snows. We had a great 2nd
Happy Halloween!
One of the scariest things you can find in your fields… WEEDS!
Each farmer costume is a weed that we deal with regularly at Sunrise. Can you name all 6?
Look ma! No hands!!!!
We still have some space in our “Winter” share. Really it’s a Fall share that ends right as Winter steps in but it will be darn chilly so we’ll keep calling it that. Pick ups are at the farm biweekly in November and December.
We had peppers on our minds last week. No really, these peppers took over our brains?!?!

We picked out and pulled out our peppers plants to make way for our final plantings of Winter greens. Replacing them with spinach, a sweet and spicy mustard an
Potato or Grumpy Troll? Is this what they mean when they say somebody is trolling me on the internet?
If cardboard had a favorite sport… It would be boxing.
Don’t worry, these are the only puns we’re packing.
Have a crate day!
Happy Thursday!
Yesterday was a day to catch up! We covered our new fall/winter direct seedings in the hoops; We finally found a dry pocket to be able to jump on some tractors and weed the farm; We composted fields that are going to cover crop and we hand hoe&rsquo
Harvest Day! Don’t worry, it only rained ALL DAY LONG… In spite of the swampy conditions we picked some gorgeous kale, chard, escarole and bok choy for our CSA pick up tomorrow. Hopefully we will have dried out by then!
Why couldn’t the sheep save this photo to their computer? They needed more RAM!
